Exporting Reports
The Export button in the toolbar is the primary action for the current Sheet view.
- A filtered table exports the visible rows as an XLSX view export.
- A single unfiltered sequence exports its full XLSX report.
- An unfiltered multi-sequence scope exports one combined XLSX workbook with one sheet per logical sequence.
The chevron next to the button opens quick exports, Copy Table, YouTube Chapters when markers are available, and Custom Export… for everything configurable.
⌘E runs the primary action.
Formats
Section titled “Formats”A formatted Excel workbook. Excel doesn’t need to be installed on the Mac to generate it. Rows are colour-coded by track type, columns are auto-sized, and the first row is styled. Embedded poster frames (thumbnails) are included when the toolbar’s photo button is on. The overview sheets come first in the workbook, with any per-reel breakout tabs at the end, so the reports you open first aren’t buried on a job with hundreds of reels.
Plain UTF-8 with an Excel-friendly byte-order mark. One file per section, or all sections written into a folder. CSV never carries thumbnails. Cell values are exported verbatim, so names or notes that begin with =, +, -, or @ are not rewritten.

An Avid Log Exchange file, ready to import straight into an Avid Media Composer bin. SequenceSuite writes the standard three-section layout - Heading (frame rate and format), Column (field names), Data (one row per clip) - in tab-separated plain text. Columns that are empty across your whole sequence (Scene, Take, Camera Roll, and so on) are left out automatically, so the file stays clean.
YouTube Chapters
Section titled “YouTube Chapters”A plain-text chapter list you paste into your YouTube video description. SequenceSuite reads your sequence markers, offsets every timestamp so the first chapter is at 0:00 (regardless of whether your timeline starts at 01:00:00:00 or 10:00:00:00), and formats them the way YouTube expects. Available as YouTube Chapters (.txt) (save to file) or Copy YouTube Chapters (straight to clipboard). Only appears in the export menu when your sequence has at least one timeline marker.

When you are viewing more than one sequence - All Open Files, or a project file with several timelines - the Full report items become Combined Report as XLSX / CSV / PDF, matching the toolbar button: one document with every sequence in view. Per-sequence files and ALE for multiple sequences live in Custom Export.
Custom Export
Section titled “Custom Export”Use Custom Export… when you need a deliverable that is not the primary toolbar action. The window has three row choices:
- This view - the filtered table exactly as shown, in table order.
- Full report - complete reports for the chosen sequences.
- Selection - the selected clip rows only.
Then choose a package:
- One file - combine the chosen material into one document where the format supports it.
- One file per sequence - write a folder of per-sequence files. Optional sub-options let you put each sequence in its own folder, or for XLSX, write one workbook per selected section.
The sequence picker starts from your current scope. After you run a Full report export, the picker remembers that sequence choice for the rest of the app session, then drops any sequences that are no longer open.
Sections, columns, and time display
Section titled “Sections, columns, and time display”For Full report exports, tick the report sections you need: All Clips, Reel Summary, Files Summary, Markers, Transitions, Effects, Graphics, and the video/audio variants.
For XLSX, CSV, and PDF clip listings, choose a column layout. Standard keeps the default set. Custom layouts let you include only the columns a production manager, coordinator, or facility has asked for. Remove unused fields drops columns that are empty for that export.
Time display controls let you keep SMPTE timecode or switch to HH:MM:SS, seconds, frame counts, or 35 mm feet+frames, with separate choices for sequence times and source times, plus optional frame offsets on Sequence In and Out. ALE keeps its fixed Avid mapping.
All Open Files and grouped rows
Section titled “All Open Files and grouped rows”Use All Open Files in the Sheet sidebar to browse clips across every loaded file. The table groups multi-sequence views by logical sequence by default, including multi-track EDL groups as a single sequence. Searches and media filters run first, so the group counts match what is currently visible. Turning Group off returns to a flat global sort.
Filenames
Section titled “Filenames”Single-file exports are named after the sequence, e.g. My Show - Ep1 - Cut 003.xlsx. Turn on Date in filename in Custom Export to append the date and time - My Show - Ep1 - Cut 003 2026-06-01 1432.xlsx - so each export is uniquely dated. It’s off by default, since Sheet reports are often regenerated under a stable name. Folder exports and per-sequence exports stay undated. Every name is only a starting point - you can edit it in the Save dialog.
Thumbnails
Section titled “Thumbnails”SequenceSuite can embed a poster frame beside every clip in your XLSX and PDF reports - a still lifted from the middle of each clip as it’s used in the cut. CSV never carries thumbnails.
Thumbnails are off by default. Turn them on with the toolbar’s photo button; the choice sticks between sessions. Poster size (40 px up to 1280 px) is set in Settings → General → Thumbnails.
Where the pictures come from
Section titled “Where the pictures come from”Posters are pulled from a playout - a flat viewing copy of the timeline, exported from your NLE as a self-contained .mov, .mp4, or .m4v. SequenceSuite reads the frame at each clip’s position in the cut, so one playout covers the whole sequence.
When you export with thumbnails on, SequenceSuite finds the playout in this order:
- A copy you’ve already linked to the sequence.
- A matching video beside the source file - if a
.mov,.mp4, or.m4vsits next to your EDL or XML and shares the sequence’s name, it’s used automatically. - A prompt to locate it - if nothing matches, a window opens asking you to point at the playout for that sequence. Choose it once and it’s remembered. Skip Thumbnails exports that sequence without posters; Cancel stops the app asking for any remaining sequences in the same export.
If a clip’s playout can’t be read, or the frame is offline, that cell is simply left blank rather than failing the export.
Multi-timeline files
Section titled “Multi-timeline files”An XML that holds many timelines links a separate playout per timeline, so each sequence pulls from its own viewing copy rather than sharing one. Name each playout after its sequence and they’re all matched automatically.
Linking a playout by hand
Section titled “Linking a playout by hand”You don’t have to wait until export. Right-click a sequence in the Open Files list and choose Link Playout… to point it at a viewing copy ahead of time, Change Playout… to swap it, or Clear Linked Playout to forget it. This is the quickest fix when the automatic match found the wrong file. See Right-Click Menus.
Progress and cancel
Section titled “Progress and cancel”Long multi-sequence exports show a progress sheet with a cancel button. When the export completes, SequenceSuite reports how many files were written and offers Reveal in Finder. If you cancel mid-export, the partial output is discarded.
