Source Access (App Store)

The App Store version of SequenceSuite runs in a macOS sandbox. Before it can read media from an external drive or a folder outside your home directory, you need to grant it access. The Direct download version is not sandboxed and does not require this step, although the same Source Access UI is available for managing source roots manually.

Granting access automatically

When you press Gather and SequenceSuite detects drives or folders that haven’t been granted yet, it shows a Source Access sheet listing each one. Click Grant Access… - a folder picker opens pre-pointed at that drive’s root. Click Open to grant access, then click Continue to proceed with the Gather.

Access is saved across launches. Once you’ve granted a drive, you won’t be prompted again unless the saved permission becomes stale (e.g. the drive has been reformatted or moved).

If a saved external or network volume is not mounted, SequenceSuite marks it Offline and moves on. It does not keep trying to reconnect the volume in the background. Previously opened sequence files may still restore from the parse cache; choose Re-parse Source when the volume is back online and you want to refresh from disk.

For Avid AAFs, granting the drive that contains Avid MediaFiles is usually enough. SequenceSuite can resolve managed MXF paths from a drive root, an Avid MediaFiles folder, or a deeper MXF folder you choose during Locate.

Managing saved access

Go to Settings → Gather → Source access to see all drives and folders SequenceSuite has permission to read.

Each row shows:

• The drive or folder name and path
• An Online or Offline status pill (Offline means the drive isn’t currently mounted)
• A Re-grant… button for any entry that has become unavailable (shown as Unavailable)
• A × button to remove the entry

Click Add Source Folder to grant access to an additional location manually, before running a gather.

Note

Your home folder (~/) is covered automatically. You only need to grant access for external drives and custom locations outside your home directory.

Offline volumes

Offline network shares are common in post-production. SequenceSuite treats a missing /Volumes/... path as unavailable immediately, instead of resolving old bookmarks or probing deep paths that can make macOS beachball while it tries to reconnect.

If you no longer need a saved location, remove it from Settings → Gather → Source access. If you do still need it, mount the volume again and use Re-grant… only if the row is marked Unavailable rather than Offline.
