Locating Missing Files

After scanning, any clip that can’t be found on disk is marked as Missing in the Gather table and listed in the Missing section of the sidebar. Use the Locate… workflow to relink them.

Missing files can stay in your Gather Plan. They are useful as a delivery checklist, but planned never means copyable: SequenceSuite skips a missing row until the drive is mounted or the file has been located.

For AAF imports, missing media is usually a path problem rather than a problem reading the file: the AAF may point to another workstation’s drive letter, network share, or Avid media folder. Use Locate Media… from the notice or Locate… on a missing row, then point SequenceSuite at the drive or folder containing the media.

If the media was simply offline - a drive that’s since been plugged back in - you don’t need Locate at all. Right-click the row and choose Re-check on Disk; a found file flips straight from Missing to Ready.

Locating a single file

Click the Locate… button on any missing row (or right-click the row and choose Locate…). A file picker opens with two options:

• Pick the file directly - even if it’s been renamed or repackaged since the timeline was exported. SequenceSuite trusts the pick: you’ve told it “this is the file I meant,” and the row flips to Ready.
• Pick a folder - SequenceSuite walks the folder recursively for a filename match.

Bulk relink (one click, many files)

Locate has a built-in bulk mode. After you successfully locate one file, SequenceSuite scans the folder you just picked (or its parent, if you picked a single file) for every other missing filename in the table. Matches appear in an Additional matches sheet - confirm and they’re all relinked in one operation.

This is the equivalent of Premiere’s “Link Media” - one click can rescue an entire folder of moved media.

For Avid AAFs, you can choose the drive containing Avid MediaFiles, the Avid MediaFiles folder itself, or a deeper MXF folder. SequenceSuite remembers the chosen source root and tries it against the other AAF rows.

Tip

When media has moved en masse (a drive remounted at a different path, a project relocated to a new server), use Locate on one of the missing files and let bulk-relink find the rest.

When relinking doesn’t find a match

If a folder pick turns up no match for the filename, the row stays Missing. You can leave it in the plan as a reminder, or try Locate again with a different folder.

Permissions

If the folder you point at is on a drive that SequenceSuite hasn’t been granted access to, a permission sheet pops first. Granting access in that sheet adds the drive to your saved source roots - see Source Access.
