FormatExtensionNotes
Adobe Premiere Pro XMEML.xmlSingle and multi-sequence. Exported via File → Export → Final Cut Pro XML.
DaVinci Resolve XML.xmlSame XMEML schema variant as Premiere. SequenceSuite labels the sidebar with Resolve when a sequence name ends in (Resolve).
Final Cut Pro XML.fcpxml, .fcpxmld, .fcpBundles are unpacked transparently. Covers normal editorial timelines with video/audio clips, asset paths, markers, and simple retimes.
CMX 3600 / Avid EDL.edlCMX3600 plus Avid File_16, File_32, and File_129 variants. Comment fields for clip names, reel IDs, source files, audio routing, and Premiere-style marker metadata are parsed. Frame rate is set per file at import, with Apply to All for batches.
OpenTimelineIO.otioResolve’s OTIO export is the main source today; files from otio-cmx3600-adapter, otio-fcpx-xml-adapter, AAF-via-OTIO, and other converters also work. Single timelines and multi-timeline collections (SerializableCollection) are both supported.
Avid AAF.aafSupported in Gather as a media-inventory source. SequenceSuite follows AAF media references, resolves Avid-managed MXF files, and can optionally include Avid render/precompute media.

XML files are capped at 1 GB on import. OTIO files are capped at 200 MB.

Damaged XML, EDL, FCPXML, and OTIO files may be repairable when they still contain recognisable sequence data. See Repairing Damaged Files for the repair window and repaired-copy workflow.

FormatParsed fields
Premiere / Resolve XMLClip names, source paths, reel names, sequence/source timecode, tracks, clip and sequence markers, durations, frame rate, transitions, effects, graphics, and file extensions.
FCPXMLClip names, source paths where present, reel names where available, sequence/source timecode, tracks, markers, basic audio/video classification, transitions, video and audio effects (third-party audio plug-ins recognised by their element), titles and generators, image stills, file extension, duration frames, logged Scene, Shot/Take, and Camera Angle where present, and simple timeMap retime speed.
CMX 3600 / Avid EDLEdit number, edit type, reel, track, source/record timecode, clip name comments, source file comments, Avid SOURCE FILE / REEL, source FPS, audio patch, audio level/pan, duration frames, motion speed where present, FCM drop-frame header, black/filler detection, named transitions and Avid/Sapphire segment effects from comment metadata (File_129 carries it in full), title events surfaced as graphics, and sequence markers from Premiere-style metadata footers.
Multi-sequence XMLFull clip inventory, reel summaries, file summaries, sequence markers, transitions, effects, graphics, and clip markers - the same data as a single-sequence import.
Multi-track EDL setMatching V1-V9- or V1-V11-style EDLs can be imported as one multi-track cut. Repeated audio rows from Avid multi-file exports are de-duplicated in Sheet and Dupe projections.
OpenTimelineIOClip names, tracks (video/audio), sequence and source timecode, source paths, reel names, clip and sequence markers (Marker.1 and Marker.2 shapes), transitions, generators surfaced as graphics, simple time-warp / freeze-frame retime speed, and Resolve’s Resolve_OTIO metadata fields where present. Multi-timeline SerializableCollection files surface every Timeline child individually; non-Timeline children are skipped. Bare clip / track / single-object roots are not accepted at the top level.
Avid AAFGather media references, Avid-managed MXF paths, render/precompute categories, source composition and clip type, and missing-media details. AAF is not used for Sheet timeline reports or Dupe matching.

FCPXML support is suitable for straightforward editorial timelines. Roles, compound clips, sync clips, multicam, and complex effects are still being expanded. Titles and generators are read and surfaced as graphics in Dupe’s Generated filter, alongside imported image Stills - the same treatment as Premiere, Resolve, and Avid EDL exports.

EDL files don’t carry frame-rate metadata, so SequenceSuite prompts for the rate per file on import (see Timecode & Frame Rates). EDL is also the report path for Avid cuts on systems that cannot export OTIO; AAF remains Gather-only. EDLs exported from Avid or Windows systems are often saved in older text encodings; SequenceSuite recognises the common ones automatically, so accented characters and special symbols come through intact. Clips played in reverse are understood too: a reversed clip’s source runs high to low, and SequenceSuite reports its real source duration. Motion speeds are shown as a percentage, whichever format they arrived in. Split edits (L-cuts and J-cuts) carry the source clip name on both legs, so no row reads as an unnamed clip.

OTIO handling has a few specifics: a once-per-file drop-frame choice at 29.97 / 59.94 fps, MissingReference source-path recovery (on by default), and compound / trimmed track containers that aren’t flattened in v1 - they emit a warning rather than a crash. See Importing Sequences and Settings → General for the detail.
