RED Siblings

RED cameras record clips as a sequence of .R3D files — when a clip crosses a file-size boundary, the camera rolls over to a new file. A single clip might span two, three, or more R3D files. During a Resolve conform, Resolve pulls in whichever R3D file covers the portion of the clip you used in your edit — if you used the middle of a three-file take, you get file 2. The RED Siblings tool finds the other files that belong to the same take (files 1 and 3 in that example) and copies them into your conform folder so the full clip is there.

Sidecar files (.RMD look metadata, .wav audio, etc.) are also collected as part of the same operation.

  1. In Gather mode, click the RED Siblings tab in the sidebar.

  2. Drop your conform folder (the destination folder containing your .R3D files from Resolve) onto the Conform zone.

  3. Drop your source RED card — or a backup of it — onto the Source zone.

  4. Click Scan. SequenceSuite walks the conform folder, identifies every R3D clip present, and diffs against the source card to find the missing sibling files.

  5. Review the list of missing files, then click Apply to copy them into the conform folder.

Click Dry Run before applying to preview exactly what would be copied — source path → destination path for every planned file — without touching anything on disk.

After applying, click Verify to confirm every expected sibling is now present in the conform folder.
