RED Siblings
RED cameras record each clip into an .RDC folder on the card. Inside that folder sit .R3D video files plus a set of companion files: .RTN proxies, .WAV sync audio, .RMD metadata, and miscellaneous extras. During a Resolve conform you can easily end up with the R3D files copied to your conform folder but the companions left behind on the card, which breaks proxy playback, audio sync, and look metadata.
SequenceSuite handles this two ways:
- Automatically during Gather. When the Gather Plan resolves an
.R3Dsource, every other file in the same.RDCfolder is added to the plan as an R3D sibling row. - As a separate destination check. The Find Missing Siblings workflow compares a RED card or card backup against a destination and lists every companion that should be there but isn’t.
Find Missing Siblings
Section titled “Find Missing Siblings”The workflow lives behind the Find Missing Siblings button in the Gather sidebar. It also opens from Dupe mode (results are routed to a results sheet there rather than the Gather plan).
-
Click Find Missing Siblings to open the workflow sheet.
-
Pick source folders. Add one or more directories that contain the original RED cards (or backups of them). SequenceSuite walks the source(s) looking for
.RDMmarkers to identify each card. -
Pick the destination folder. Usually your Resolve conform folder, archive folder, or wherever the R3D files have already been copied.
-
Scan. SequenceSuite enumerates every
.RDCfolder on the source side, compares its contents against the destination, and lists every companion file that’s missing. -
Review and add to Gather. From the results sheet you can add the missing siblings to the Gather Plan and copy the readable files in the next Gather run.
Find Missing Siblings does not delete or reorganise anything in the destination. It gives you a checklist of what is absent, then lets Gather copy the missing companions from the source side when they are available.
All companions vs. R3D only
Section titled “All companions vs. R3D only”Two modes (configurable in the Find Missing Siblings sheet):
- All companions (default) - every non-hidden file in the
.RDCfolder is treated as a sibling:.R3D,.RTN,.WAV,.RMD, and anything else. - R3D only - match the original REDsiblings standalone app’s behaviour by only scanning for missing
.R3Dfiles.
.DS_Store and Thumbs.db are excluded by default.
Source access
Section titled “Source access”The sources you pick may live on external drives or network shares. If SequenceSuite doesn’t yet have permission to read them, a Source Access sheet pops first and grants are persisted across launches.
